Our Team
We are a team of highly experienced designers, who strive to produce creative answers to design problems. We have a broad skill base which can be applied to a wide range of projects including expertise in industrial design, product engineering and electronic engineering. Because we are able to apply manufacturing knowledge at the earliest stages of the design process, we can compress the timelines required to get a product to manufacture.
At FSW Design we offer a very personal service and pride ourselves on the long-term relationships that we develop with our clients. We also believe that it is very important to avoid unnecessary layers of management, which can lead to poor communication.
Philip founded FSW Design in 1995. As Managing Director of FSW, Philip oversees the day to day projects and operations of the business, as well as actively designing and developing his own projects for our clients. Having been awarded a first class honours degree at Nottingham Trent University, Philip went onto to complete an (MA) in Industrial design at De Montfort University. During his career Philip has accrued specialist knowledge in polymer engineering which he has applied to numerous successful design projects. In his spare time, Philip is currently working to renovate his Victorian house and even finds time to manage his son’s football team!
James returned to FSW Design in August 2016 upon graduating with a first class honours degree in (BA) Industrial Design and Technology from Loughborough University. He also undertook a year-long industrial placement at the company two years previously between June 2014 and August 2015. James’ keen eye for aesthetic design paired with a technical mindset translates into his ability to design desirable, problem-solving products. Outside the office, he can usually be found in his home workshop working on all manner of personal projects ranging from woodworking to precision machining. If it’s sunny enough, James also enjoys getting out on the field to practice target archery with his recurve bow!
Heather joined FSW Design in October 2014. As the office manager she is responsible for the day to day operations of the business. When not working at FSW Heather is also a part time maths teacher so isn’t too bad with the figures either!
